Picking The Right Bike!

We have seen a change in transportation recently. While the majority of people in the western world seemed most interested in travelling via automobile, in the last couple of decades many people have been choosing the bicycle as their primary mode of transportation. This could be because down to the prices of gas and running a car, or perhaps people are deciding to care more for the planet. Either way there are now more bikes on the road then ever before. Have you been thinking about getting a bicycle? If you have then there are several things you should look at when you do.

It’s okay for fashion to affect the decision you make about your new bicycle. Our preferences are reflected in color and style choices. When choosing your bike you shouldn't ignore them. If your bike is only for looks, put style elements and fashion choices as your ultimate decision-makers. Excellent safety and comfort should be the first criteria met by your new bike. After ensuring both safety and comfort, see which ones you like the actual design of best.

Do you need extra gadgets for your bike? Perhaps a basket to help you carry items will be helpful, should your bike be what you'll be using most. Will you be travelling with a child? Then you have to choose a bike that will allow for a child seat attachment. How about towing something behind the bike? If so, you will need to find a bicycle that can support the weight of a small trailer or whatever else you will be towing behind you.

You also want to make sure you leave some room between you and the crossbar of your bike. When you choose your bike, adjust the seat up a few inches from the crossbar and then sit on the bike. Make sure you can place both feet on the ground if need be. You will want to leave different clearance lengths depending on the type of bicycle you are buying. As an example, with a touring bike you will only require around 1". With a mountain bike a clearance of 3" will be necessary.

When you get a bike your main goal should be to find one that physically suits you. This is the most important thing to consider when looking into using a bike to get around. You need to feel safe but also comfortable on your bike, next page otherwise you won't enjoy riding it!
